I install the latest waterproofing systems currently available in the market. Unlike the older method of showers constructed with copper pans, mortar beds, vinyl  liners, and plastic moisture barriers, these new systems are integrated, made of waterproof membranes, and prevent water intrusion and mold.

There are a number of manufacturers making these new waterproofing systems.

As an independent contractor, I am able to find the best fit for your customized shower. Recent trends with showers are low curbs or curbless, larger tiles on shower floors, linear drains, benches of all shapes and sizes, shampoo niches, and customized  shelves.

Radiant heated floors are a great choice for any room including bathroom and sun porch floors. The new radiant mats are more reliable than previous styles and distribute

heat evenly.

Backsplashes  are a great way to enhance kitchen  counters and cabinets.  There are endless possibilities with tile and design including concave glass, subway ceramic, porcelain ‘marble,’ and honed natural stone. Highlights are another cost effective way to bring “pop” to a fairly simple design. Metal liners, hand painted tiles, and mosaic borders
can easily be add to create a focal point for example above a stove or on an accent wall.

Often fireplaces with a simple brick and mortar facade can be transformed into the center piece of a room by installing natural stone such as slate. Other tile ideas for fireplace surrounds include; marble ‘faux’ porcelain tile, large format ceramic tile, and mosaic glass tile. Also, travertine tile with uneven  edges and a natural finish creates a rustic look and feel.

Custom mosaics are a great way to incorporate a focal point in a design. Whether it be a medallion in an entrance way , a decorative border in a custom shower, or a  kitchen themed panel in a backsplash.

Tile Repairs & New Installations

Bathrooms are the most problematic rooms in the house for moisture control  and the possibility of mold growth. I do a lot of repair work on shower floors, tub surrounds, and bathroom walls.

For some repairs I tile over old tile, create custom designs to replace discontinued tiles, and re-caulk wet areas with matching colored caulk. Often shower floors become discolored due to water stains and unsightly with the presence of mold where the floor edges meet the base of the walls. Instead of replacing the entire shower floor, walls, and copper pan,  I am often able to remove the shower floor tiles only and reinstall similar tiles including tiles rated for slip resistance, and in most cases without having a plumber re-adjust the drain height. Caulking with professional grade caulk where the floor edges meet the base of the walls or where the tub edges meet the walls keeps these potentially trouble prone areas water proof. Also, these caulks, available in 100% silicone, are now available in a variety of colors.
